Matt
Decker Joins Perennial Strategy Group
WASHINGTON,
D.C., June 27, 2005 - Perennial Strategy Group today
announced that Matthew Decker has joined the firm as
a Principal.
Mr.
Decker brings tremendous and varied experience working
on Capital Hill and within Washington's diplomatic community.
As a principal with Perennial Strategy Group, Mr. Decker
will continue to assist foreign countries and businesses
in pursuing their diverse political and commercial interests
in the United States.
Mr.
Decker brings a unique international expertise to Perennial
Strategy Group. With a background in legislative affairs
and international government relations, he provides
the firm's domestic and international clients with valuable
insight into both transatlantic and U.S.-East Asia relations.
In addition to working in the U.S. Congress, Mr. Decker
has worked inside the Japanese and British governments
and offers clients in-depth knowledge of, and access
to, three of the world's most important and lucrative
markets.
Mr.
Decker joins Perennial Strategy Group from the Congressional
Affairs Office at the British Embassy in Washington,
D.C. There, he provided Her Majesty's government with
an insider's perspective of American politics, the federal
government, and the legislative process. His primary
responsibilities were to enhance the British government's
influence within Congress and the Administration, provide
comprehensive analysis and insight on political developments
in the United States, and direct strategic efforts on
legislation affecting the interests of the United Kingdom.
During
his tenure as an advisor to the British government,
Mr. Decker traveled widely throughout Great Britain,
conducting informational seminars for British government
officials, speaking with business and community leaders,
and lecturing at several British Universities, including
Oxford University, St. Andrews University, and the London
School of Economics.
Previously,
Mr. Decker served as the Congressional Affairs Officer
at the Japanese Embassy in Washington, D.C. In that
capacity, he advised the Government of Japan on all
aspects of U.S. government and politics. His particular
focus was on international trade agreements and legislation
affecting Japan. He guided the Japanese Government through
the U.S. debate over granting Permanent Normal Trade
Relations to the People's Republic of China.
Mr.
Decker has many years' experience working for the U.S.
Congress. He served as an international trade and foreign
policy advisor to Congressman Mark Souder of Indiana.
Mr. Decker holds a master's degree in political management
from The George Washington University in Washington,
D.C. He is also a graduate of Indiana University at
Bloomington, with a bachelor's degree in political science
and communications.
He
has a lifelong passion for politics, government relations,
public service and international relations.
