Daniel P. Kaufman
Vice President and Counsel
Daniel Kaufman provides invaluable strategic and legal advice to the Perennial team and its clients. He has experience in disclosure requirements and filings under the LDA, political law issues such as PAC formation and fundraising, labor and employment law, collective bargaining negotiations, and intellectual property law, including copyright, trademark, and trade secret law.
Mr. Kaufman has represented Perennial’s clients in high-profile negotiations involving Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association, and various other entities. He has advised celebrities, entertainers, and athletes on numerous issues, including music licensing, book publishing, labor and employment issues, defamation and right of publicity, and commercial and residential real estate transactions.
Prior to joining Perennial, Mr. Kaufman worked as a litigation and intellectual property attorney at Finnegan LLP and K&L Gates LLP, where he was involved in complex commercial litigation matters and provided vital legal advice regarding trademarks, copyrights, and unfair competition. While at Finnegan, Mr. Kaufman was an integral part of a team that successfully obtained a multi-million dollar settlement involving a well-known social networking website.
Mr. Kaufman is actively involved in the community, volunteering his time with the Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts and the D.C. Bar Arts, Entertainment, Media, and Sports Law Steering Committee. He recently organized and moderated a panel discussion sponsored by the DC Bar and the Washington Nationals, which featured executives from Major League Baseball, the Major League Baseball Players Association, and the World Umpires Association.
Mr. Kaufman is a member of the Sports Lawyers Association and the America Bar Association Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries.
